Photos contributed by SHARI HAMMOND SNIDERThe Gull Lake Class of 1969 held its 50th Class Reunion on Saturday, August 24,2019 at the Gull Lake View Resort. We had 130 participants. 64 were actual members of the Gull Lake graduating class of 1969 and another 12 were former classmates who ended up graduating from other schools. We were honored to have three esteemed members of the Faculty as our guests. Mr. Peter Sangalli (HS Principal), Mr. Craig Bishop (Art), and Mr. Denny Bowersox (Social Sciences). Unfortunately, Mr. Royce Nye our class advisor and Social Science teacher had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. We had 49 guests, many were spouses of classmates and several were members of other Gull Lake classes. We appreciated Kathy Casler VanderRoest ('67) who volunteered to be our official photographer during our weekend of activities. We kept her busy as the bulk of the photos posted were taken by Kathy. We also were thankful to have Robin Bohlinger Stafford ('71) and Trudy Yager Luedeking ('71) check everyone in for our Saturday evening event. Cooperation and sharing of ideas and decorations with other GL classes was a big theme for this reunion. Kathy Casler VanderRoest ('67) and Cathy Johnson Birke ('68) were more than generous sharing their experience in planning their reunions with us. They also donated some decorations as did the class of 1989. We honored the 25 deceased members of our class with a PowerPoint presentation created by Bruce Ganer. At dusk everyone went outside for a balloon release. Classmates volunteered to say a few words and release a balloon representing a deceased classmate that they had a personal connection with in school. The ceremony was emotional for many and generated memories of the deceased in all of us.
